Your cottage is in one of the most historic areas of the city. Belem offers almost too much - both of Lisbon's World Heritage Sites, Jeronimos Monastery and the Torre de Belem; the Presidents palace with guardsmen decked out in 19th century uniforms, a unique coach museum and a world class maritime museum. There is the famous Pasteis de Belem cafe, a whole row of interesting restaurants set in 16th century buildings, the Belem Cultural center with its exhibitions and concerts, the planetarium, and botanical gardens. The Tagus river runs under the bridge that looks like the Golden gate presided over by the Christ the King statue (Rio de Janeiro has a look-alike). You might catch a glimpse of the QE2 or the QM2 or one of the many cruise ships that sail out to sea passed your back yard. Sail boats and regattas leave and return to the nearby marinas and the electric train line takes you along the rivers edge to Estoril and its casino, Cascais the picturesque fishing village or just to the many wide sandy beaches of the Portuguese Riviera. Travel to the center quickly and easily by train, tram, bus or taxi. Here, where the most western part of Europe meets the sea, is where you've got to be.

The cottage is on ground level with only one of the bedrooms up a flight of inside stairs making it very suitable for seniors or small children.
