Discovering Destin
A vacation that would make me switch my laptop off and spend my days in the sand and sun, without the many worries and irritations a globe trotter has to constantly deal with. Well, that has remained a dream for me, until Destin happened!
I was a little apprehensive whether Destin would also prove to be another run-of-the mill getaway. You know, the ones described using words like 'different', 'home away from home'... all sounding so hopelessly hollow for someone like me who has seen and experienced many a so-called picture-postcard destination. But my colleague and good friend Katie assured me Destin would be different. Sure enough, Destin swept me off my feet! You ought to believe in cliches at times, that is what Destin taught me! The beaches in Destin were indeed white sand and emerald waters! I have never thought of myself as a poet, but felt like I could take a shot at competing with Shakespeare if I spend a couple of weeks in Destin. Yes, this place is so breathtakingly beautiful, just like those travel brochures say. And so laid back. For folks like me who find it not so easy to let go of the world of deadlines and mergers that many of us belong to, Destin is the answer. Here I have found that world of numbers and deals slipping away so easily, the laptop a forgotten-toy from some distant world... Destin lets you go really silly! Silly to the extent that you will start riding go-karts, enjoy miniature golf (at last the game is played for the sake of it, rather than for clinching a deal in those big, private courses) and even screaming like in my teen days while taking that big curve in a roller coaster. The seafood and the Floridan sun was too compelling a combination for was me to bid adieu to 'fine dining' at least for some days. No silver service and no butlers, for a change! Katie was right, as always, about Destin. This was the best vacation I have had! If you are going to Destin, make sure you book your Destin Vacation Rental in advance over the Internet. I would advice a winter vacation in Destin as it would mean a smaller crowd and less traffic! Related Links |
