About Culebra

Culebra is a small island, measuring 7 miles by 3 miles at its extremes, located about 17 miles east of Puerto Rico and 12 miles west of St. Thomas. Whether it is snorkeling or simple sun bathing, you can do that from your Puerto Rico Vacation Rentals.  You can reach Culebra by ferry from Fajardo, Puerto Rico, or by small plane from Puerto Rico or St. Thomas. The main type of transportation in the island is Jeep or SUV, as they are best suited for the rolling terrain and steep roads. Ensenada Honda, one of the islands many bays is famous for its excellent snorkeling and diving beaches and activities like saltwater fishing, scuba diving or chatting with the sun. The area is also a nesting ground for many endangered birds and sea turtles.

Flamenco Beach is the most popular breach and has sparkling, soft white sand and crystal clear water. You can actually walk about 80 yards with the water never getting too deep at Flamenco Beach. If you prefer a quieter beach to rekindle the lost romance in you, there is no other place like Zoni Beach! The beach is located on the northeast side of the island. Punta Solado is a pebble beach where you can enjoy great swimming and snorkeling. Brava Beach and Resaca Beach are well-known surfing locations. If beaches and more beaches make your vacation great, then you are at the right place!

Both soft and hard corals adorn Culebra and that means the area is a divers' paradise on water! Culebra has over 50 dive sites, including cave dives, a natural tunnel, wall dives, a shipwreck dive, and endless coral reefs. Great diving can also be found at Carlos Rosario Beach and Melones Beach. Popular snorkeling beaches include Carlos Rosario Beach, Tamarindo Beach, and Mosquito Beach.
