Beach lovers on vacation at Hanalei should visit Lumahai Beach. This beach got its share of fame with the movie 'south pacific' and it is a beautiful beach. But the swift currents and an unbelievable backwash makes swimming precarious at best. Head west to Kee Beach and indulge yourself in a good round of swimming. The beach appeared in the popular television series 'the thorn birds'. It is located at the beginning of the Na Pali Coast, and when the tide is right you can walk out into the ocean far enough to see a stunning view of the coastline. A reef offshore provides some excellent snorkeling and swimming opportunities for the beach lovers at Hanalei.

Kee Beach also serves as the trail head for the Kalalau Trail. The path winds around the Na Pali Coast and is the closest you can come to the real Hawaii. If you decide to walk the full eleven miles, you must be prepared for all kinds of weather and all kinds of terrain!  Hit the Kalalau trail, the path meant for people with a passion for serious trekking!

Golfers visiting Hanalei should head east to Princeville and play either the Prince or the Makai courses as both courses have been rated by Golf Digest as being in the top 100 courses in the United States.
