About Kohala Coast

The Kohala Coast is the tropical playground where the sun resides! The coast starts from the north western side of Hawaii, joins the Kona Coast as it stretches north and goes on to near the eastern side of the Island. Let your vacation on Kohala Coast, Big Island, begin by landing in either Kona or Hilo International Airports. Hilo serves the eastern side (windward), and Kona the western coast (leeward) portion. Kohala Coast has a well maintained and intricate highway system, and that means there will be no problem in navigation at Kohala Coast. The Kohala Coast is dotted with little towns that offer views of Hawaii's vast landscape. Vacationers can view the coastal towns with their incredible sunsets, and enjoy snorkeling, fishing, and scuba diving here. Head east to Waimea, to realize how different the regions in Hawaii can be. Although the town is located in the Kohala Coast area, it is far enough inland and sits close enough to Mauna Kea that it also is referred to as it's own section. Here, the landscape changes it's costumes from verdant pastures to semi-arid landscape in a matter of minutes. Visitors to the area will want to make a beeline for the Parker Ranch Visitor Center and Museum, an expanse of 150,000 acres and is one of the largest cattle ranches in the country.
