The Snake River flows through the Hells Canyon, which is the deepest gorge in North America. The Grand Tetons melt their snow and create waterfalls that you see in Eastern Idaho. Idaho Falls is one of the major tourist attractions. The waterfalls serve as a scenic picture frame beyond compare, and a take-off point to the many activities that await you in the Idaho Falls area. The Idaho Falls Greenbelt is an excellent bike/running path that stretches along the Snake River offering breathtaking views of the falls set amidst a tranquil setting. The vacationer can choose from getaway spots in three regions in Idaho, the Eastern Idaho region, the Sawtooth Mountains, and Southwestern Idaho. The Henrys Fork of the Snake River twists and twirls through 9 exciting miles of the park and is a gently rolling, world-famous fly fishing stream. In the winter, cross-country skiers and snow mobilers can enjoy the park's terrain. Sandpoint in Idaho sits on the northwest corner of Pend Oreille Lake, the aquatic adventurers paradise. The lake, glacially formed during the Ice Age, is the state's largest and is over 40 miles long and reaching depths of 1,100 feet at certain places. |
