About Sandpoint

Sandpoint, Idaho, located in a region sometimes referred to as 'the Panhandle,' is the ideal place for active vacationers. Sandpoint is an year-round vacation paradise close to two of the three biggest lakes in Idaho, in the Sawtooth Moutains area. From May to October, it is fishing and hiking season. In the winter, it is time for skis and snowmobiles. For guests of Idaho Vacation Homes, a day in Sandpoint is not complete without hiking, fishing, cross-country skiing, mountain biking, snowboarding, golf, and other adventures in the countryside. Come to Sandpoint, the land of unlimited fun and excitement.

Sandpoint sits on the northwest corner of Pend Oreille Lake, the aquatic adventurers' paradise. The lake is the state's largest and is over 40 miles long and reaching  depths of 1,100 feet at certain places. Explore Priest Lake, the ultimate destination for a vacationer who prefers to move away from the maddening crowds. The lake is  surrounded by thick forests and the snowcapped peaks of the Selkirk Mountains. Located approximately 20 miles north of Sandpoint, Priest Lake, almost 10,000 years old, is in fact two lakes separated by a river.

Skiers and snowboarders hit Schweitzer Mountain Ski Resort when the winter's chill fires up the vacationer in them. Located high in the Selkirk Mountains, 11 miles from Sandpoint, Schweitzer Mountain has 2900 skiable acres. Stomping Grounds Terrain Park, rated as one of the best in the northwest, is a great place for snowboarders. Cross country skiers here have over 30 km of trails to rip the snow. The 'Enchanted Forest' terrain garden offers lessons to little ones to learn to ski. Come summer or winter, Schweitzer Mountain remains the summit of fun and adventure.
