About Maryland Maryland is located in east central United States, and is bordered by Pennsylvania, Delaware, Virginia, the District of Columbia, and West Virginia. Annapolis is the capital of Maryland, while Baltimore is the biggest city. Along with Annapolis and Baltimore, Ocean City is one of the chief vacation destinations in the state of Maryland. The Ocean City Lifesaving Station Museum situated at the south end of the Boardwalk at Inlet, details the history of the 1891 station and features exhibits on shipwrecks, rescues, sands from around the world, and aquariums. Families will love the 58-acre Northside Park, located at 127th St., and the bay, with its picnic areas, jogging paths, lighted playing fields, fishing lagoon, two piers, playgrounds, concession stands, and gymnasium. Playgrounds can also be found at the 3rd Street Park, Robin Park, Little Salisbury Park, Gorman Park, and North Surf Park. Nature and outdoor lovers would want to visit the geographically important regions of the coastal plain along Chesapeake Bay, the rich farming country of the Piedmont plateau, and the Appalachian Mountains in Maryland. Baltimore has its share of tourist attractions too. The Baltimore Civil War Museum is dedicated to commemorating the history of the Civil War. The exhibits at the Museum will provide you a fresh perspective on the Civil War. Another reminder of the Civil War at Baltimore would be the cannon atop a hill overlooking Inner Harbor. The National Aquarium is another Baltimore attraction. Once you're through with Baltimore, you'd want to check up on Annapolis.  |
