About Vacation Rentals in Dennis

Dennis is popular for its stately colonial mansions along the northern Cape Cod Bay coastline, and its picturesque, warm water beaches along the southern Nantucket Sound. Tree-lined streets wind through Dennisport other villages in the area. Dennis was first settled in 1639 and was officially incorporated in 1793. Dennis gets its name from the Reverend Josiah Dennis, pastor of Yarmouth's East Parish. His 1736 home has been restored and now serves as a local-history museum.

Sixteen inviting beaches lie on the warm waters of Nantucket Sound to the south and on the crisp refreshing waters of Cape Cod Bay to the north. Numerous recreation trails offer healthful relaxation, and well developed business districts throughout the villages provide ample goods and services. For culture buffs there's the Cape Cod Museum of Art in Dennis with its art openings, Music & More Concerts and independent film series along with the world renowned Cape Cinema as well as several other fabulous art galleries and artisans.

On Scargo Lake in Dennis is Scargo Hill Tower, built 160 feet above sea level - the highest spot in the area. From the top of this tower can be viewed Barnstable Harbor to the west and Provincetown in the east. Nearby is Dennis' best known beach, Corporation Beach. The white sand beach is surrounded by low dunes and is open to the public. Dennis' hiking trails are open to all public. For visitors, there is also the Crowes Pasture off South Street at the end of Quivet Cemetery in East Dennis and the Fresh Pond Conservation Area.
