About Vacation Rentals in Truro

Truro is different from other Cape Cod towns in that it has remained virtually changed for the last 200 years. The geographical location of Truro - placed between Nova Scotia's capital and the rest of Canada - has solidified this its reputation as a maritime transportation hub. For most tourists, this town is just the last stop on the way to Provincetown. If you go off the beaten path, Truro  offers a hauntingly beautiful landscape of moors, high dunes, estuaries and marshes.

Truro sits at the tip of the Bay of Fundy on the shores of the Salmon River, and offers the chance to experience the tidal bore phenomenon. In this phenomenon the power of the bay causes water to flow against the current at peak times. In Truro, you can partake in a number of activities: sporty types can check out one of the eight surrounding golf courses, while history buffs can visit the local museums: the Little White School House Museum, set in the original town schoolhouse; and the Colchester Historical Society Museum. If you fancy a day in the park, you can head to Victoria Park, where 1,000 natural acres are accessible via stream side walking paths.

On the Atlantic side lies the Cape's oldest lighthouse, built in 1857. It was recently moved back from the shore to a safer distance as the cliff on which it rested was endangered by erosion. Truro possesses beautiful beaches on Cape Cod Bay and some of the most magnificent beaches on the Atlantic Ocean. A source of inspiration to artists and beachcombers alike, Truro's beaches, dunes and landscape of rolling hills are an attraction to tourists and vacationers.
