The school is testament to the creativity of the citizens of Cherokee County. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park close to Andrews is a haven for adventure fans. The 850 miles of trails provide trekking opportunities for trekkers of all abilities. The Appalachian Trail is the most popular, and it winds its way throughout the area. The Nantahala National Forest, the location of Andrews, is also a 'must see' destination for outdoor adventurers. The Nantahala River provides water action as well. Kayakers and white water rafters have much to look forward to here. Lake Chatuge provides anglers with bass, sunfish, walleye, and catfish. |
