About Kure Beach

Situated at the southern tip of Pleasure Island, Kure Beach is true getaway destination. Uncrowded beaches, restaurants and comfortable vacation homes combine to make Kure Beach a favorite for many vacationers.The beach great offers views of the Cape Fear River, the Atlantic Ocean, and Zeke’s Island. In Kure Beach, you can actively pursue activities like swimming, fishing, surfing, scuba diving, sailing, hiking, cycling, or throwing down a towel for some much-needed sun. History buffs will enjoy touring the remains of Fort Fisher, the last major stronghold of the Confederacy. This is also the largest earthen fortress of its kind in the South. Each year Civil War re-enactors gather here to recreate the great battle of 1865. The North Carolina Aquarium features a sharks, sea turtles, alligators, and other native marine life. For anglers, the Kure Beach Fishing Pier is a great place to cast a line.

The Fort Fisher State Recreation Area in Kure Beach area has 4-mile stretch of undeveloped beach. The Southport Ferry offers breathtaking views of the Cape Fear River during its shore-to-shore journey. The Pleasure Island Seafood, Blues and Jazz Festival takes place in Kure Beach.
