About Wintergreen

Located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, Wintergreen is the perfect four-season vacation destination. Along with skiing extravaganza, you can enjoy some riding, hiking, snowboarding, skiing, golfing, rock climbing, fishing, and tennis. Then there are the fine dining, facials, and massages thrown in! Devil's Knob is a beautiful golf course designed by Ellis Maples. It's the highest course in Virginia, and at 4,000 feet the altitude helps carry drives farther than normal, making the course play shorter than its 6500 yards usually requires. Another great golf course is the Stoney Creek Course, which was designed by Rees Jones. Stoney Creek is great for all skill levels and provides incredible views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. All those fine courses at Wintergreen have earned the place the reputation as one of the top 50 golf resorts in the world.

Lake Monocan is a great place to head for a dive at Wintergreen. It's located at Stoney Creek in the valley down the mountain from the resort. The lake is all of 20 acres. The sandy beach is great for a sun tan. Angling enthusiasts can toss in a line looking for large and smallmouth bass. The trail surrounding the lake is great for hiking enthusiasts. To really enjoy the lake, you can rent canoes, kayaks, sailboats, and paddle boats. You can also enjoy some beach volleyball, while taking in the views of the surrounding mountains. Wintergreen offers five ski lifts to whisk skiers to 90 acres of skiable terrain, with 20 trails accommodating all skill levels during the winter. Night skiing is available at 12 of the trails. To hone their skills, snowboarders and freestyle skiers can use the terrain park with its moguls, rails, and other assorted man-made obstacles. The Snowsports School here provides the most rookie of skiers with the best training.
