About Mount Baker

Mount Baker, 50 kilometers east of Bellingham, Washington, is an ice-clad volcano in the northern cascades of Washington State. Apart form Mt Rainer, Mount Baker is the most glaciated of all other glaciated volcanoes, and the volcano rests on a foundation of non-volcanic rocks in a non-volcanic region. Though Mount Baker is free of ice after ice age, it is still mantled with ice and snow, and is the most isolated of all cascaded volcanoes. The natives have rightly called it as white Steep Mountain.

Go on a hiking spree to the Mount Baker recreational area, and be at home in the woods, and acquaint yourself with the wild edible plants and medicines. With snow fall touching world record, Mount Baker is one of the best skiing spot in Washington. During spring, foliage and flowers sprout at the base of the Baker, and ice-free streams flow giving Mount Baker a charm never witnessed. Raft the Nooksack River, and chose a trail from the odd four hundred trails that run around Mount Baker.
