About Snowshoe Snowshoe in West Virginia is one of the most popular skiing destinations on the East Coast. Fourteen lifts take those who seek fun in the snow to 57 trails, most of which are open to all skill levels.The Snowshoe Village is nestled on the top of the mountain. The village is made up of 17 restaurants and bars, swimming pools, gaming areas and specialty shops. It's the place for some non-stop fun. Here you can enjoy a post-ski meal. It's where you watch the Alleghany sunshine and enjoy a rustic, mountaintop atmosphere. Skiing and snowboarding trails at Snowshoe become hiking and mountain biking trails in the summer. Riding tours and horseback lessons are offered at Snowshoe. ATV (all terrain vehicle) tours can take you to off road excursions. Snowshoe Mountain also boasts the highest beach in elevation on the east coast. Shaver Lake provides the beach. Situated on the basin side of the mountain, the lake offers swimming, canoeing and kayaking opportunities. There are also hiking trails around the lake that take you to the wilderness surrounding it. You'll also find hammocks and playgrounds for kids here. Golf is one of the major activities you can enjoy at Snowshoe. The Raven Golf Club at Snowshoe is one of the most popular golf courses in the US. |
